Welcome to the HELIXS research group home page!

Our group has strong tradition in x-ray spectroscopy and materials science.  Our main focus is in x-ray spectroscopies, x-ray scattering, and their computational modeling.

Tervetuloa opiskelemaan ja tekemään töitä kanssamme!
Welcome to study and work with us!

The group name, HELIXS, stands for Helsinki Electronic Structure, Imaging and X-ray Scattering. Read about the history of HELIXS.

Our main experimental synchrotron techniques are inelastic and elastic x-ray scattering, x-ray imaging, as well as x-ray absorption and emission spectroscopies and their related tools such as resonant inelastic x-ray scattering, resonant x-ray emission spectroscopy, and high-energy resolution fluorescence-detected x-ray absorption spetroscopy. Most importantly the latter has been originally discovered by our alumni Keijo Hämäläinen.

We are an integral part of the Finnish Synchrotron Radiation Users' Organization (FSRUO) and the Doctoral Programme in Materials Research and Nanosciences (MATRENA)
