Research interests

Materials science is a research topic with utmost importance to the global society. All macroscopic and microscopic properties of materials, such as the properties for energy transfer and storage, depend on the details of their electronic structure. My objective is the multidisciplinary application and development of novel experimental techniques to questions and problems concerning advanced materials and technology.

My research field is materials physics studied using novel x-ray spectroscopic methods. The objective is a multidisciplinary application and development of synchrotron-radiation and free-electron laser techniques to study the electronic and magnetic structure and dynamics of advanced materials. Important objects of study, amongst others, are novel solar cell materials, superconductors, strongly correlated electron systems and phase transitions.
